A little paint goes a long way

A few of years ago I saw this little hutch sitting on the curb at a garage sale and picked it up for $5. When I brought it home my husband asked me what I planned to do with it. I told him that I'd thought it would look great on top of the desk in our room...I hoped! He thought there wouldn't be enough room for the computer monitor. Well, me being as fearless as I am, and wanting to be right, I put it on the desk and proved him wrong. The wood colors matched. It was almost perfect, except for the ugly pink flowers decal/ painting on it. It was very...80's. I lived with it that way for 4 years. I loved the distressed look and color of it but couldn't stand the cheap pink flowers.

Then one day, while browsing the web, I found this gorgeous armoire on Patina painted furniture. There's no way I could afford such an expensive piece of furniture. But, I have skills and a big box of paint. Two hours later, I had this:

I'm pretty sure this is something I can live with! Now, if I can just decide on a color for the back of the hutch. Any suggestions?
Be fearless. Pick up a paintbrush and have some fun. And have a great day!

  1. Looks great...might I suggest removin the hardware and giving it a coat of heirloom white spraypaint...to tie the whole project together. I love your painting.

  2. Will do Misty. I got the paint for it last week. And since I love the color, it's going on some other furniture in the house too. Thanks for the comment and suggestion!
