Wing chair gets a new dress

After living with hand-me-down, and thrift store furniture for so long, I was familiar with the process of making a fitted slipcover. What I wasn't so crazy about was the price of upholstery fabric! $20+ a yard for a couch that takes 25+ yards for a slipcover is not budget friendly! So, when I read here that you could use canvas drop cloths for the fabric, I was thrilled! They are cheap, budget friendly, sturdy, and already the color I wanted. As soon as I was able, I rushed out and bought one. I bought the biggest one the had for about $30, washed it, dried it and then threw it over the couch. Already, things were looking better! Since this week is the kid's Spring break from school, I finally got a chance to start cutting and sewing. Miss Mustardseed has a made a series of videos on her blog, showing how to make a fitted slipcover for a wing chair. Since the seat on mine is attached, I wasn't able to follow her tute completely, but, for someone who has never made a fitted slipcover before, they will be a true lifesaver!
I don't know why I didn't make slipcovers for all of the furniture before! They can be spot cleaned and thrown in the wash. And when you make them fitted, you don't sacrifice style for function. I really love the feminine pleated skirt on this one.
